Ramadonna (Agrî Ibrahim) is a name for a Gemini that doesn’t enjoy making choices: Ma-donna for the queer canon, Rama-dan for inheritance. The tension is the whole shtick, darling. Born and raised in Stockholm, the DJ and writer has quietly – and not so quietly –worked his way through every major venue in Sweden, Colombia, Amsterdam, Berlin and other cities where hedonism is a favourite pastime.

Since 2016, his sound has been forged in  Stockholm’s off-grid underground, where nightlife doubles as infrastructure for both community and resistance.

A Ramadonna set pulls ideas, drum patterns and textures from his Kurdish background and throws it into a resolutely DIY club framework that moves between mahraganat, hard drum, ‘chic’ techno, progressive house, and flashes of 90s trance euphoria. If it’s hard to compute what’s going, that’s because it isn’t meant to be.
